Every NuBz can lists its ingredients on the label, but a list is not an explanation. Here is what is in a NuBz pouch and what each ingredient is doing there.
The active ingredient: synthetic nicotine
NuBz uses tobacco-free nicotine (TFN): 99% pure pharmaceutical-grade synthetic nicotine made without tobacco leaf. It is the only active ingredient, at 3mg, 6mg or 9mg per pouch depending on the [strength you choose.
The pouch and its filler
The pouch material and filler give the pouch its shape and hold the moisture. NuBz uses microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), a plant fiber, and the product contains coconut fiber — worth knowing if you have a coconut allergy.
Moisture carriers: water, PG and VG
Water, propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) are what make a NuBz pouch semi-moist rather than dry. They carry the nicotine and the flavor and keep the release even for up to 60 minutes.
Flavoring and sweetener
Flavoring is what makes [Wintergreen taste like wintergreen and [Peach Mango Freeze taste like peach and mango; [Clear has no added flavor. NuBz pouches are sweetened with sucralose, which is why they contain 0g of sugar and 0 calories, along with mannitol, a sugar alcohol that adds a cool feel.
pH and stability: sodium bicarbonate and sodium citrate
Sodium bicarbonate and sodium citrate manage the pouch's pH, which affects how smoothly the nicotine is released and how the pouch feels on the gum. They are part of why a NuBz pouch is comfortable rather than harsh.
What is not in it
- No tobacco leaf.
- No sugar.
- No smoke, vapor or spit. It is a pouch, not a product you burn or heat.
